Pathway to be a CPA Singapore
The first step to becoming a CPA Singapore is to qualify as an
ICPAS Associate. Those holding a recognised undergraduate degree
for more information), and have completed the ICPAS Professional Examination, the
ICPAS/ACCA Joint Examination Scheme or are holding other recognised
professional qualifications (*Click here
for more information) may apply to become an ICPAS Associate.
ICPAS Associates can then apply for full ICPAS membership and
qualify as CPAs Singapore after accumulating three years of
relevant work experience, attaining proficiency in local laws,
undergoing a five-day Pre-Admission Course and passing the
accompanying test.
Applicants should note that the Government's Committee to Develop
the Accountancy Sector (CDAS) has recommended the development of a
new Singapore Post-university Professional Accountancy Programme
(SQP) in its final report issued in April 2010.
The Programme, to be administered by ICPAS under the oversight
of the Pro-Tem Singapore Accountancy Council, would be relevant for
training audit professionals and professional accountants. It
seeks to enhance the professional development needs of accountancy
and non-accountancy graduates, through an appropriate mix of
application-based and theoretical learning with on-the-job
structured training. Click here for the CDAS Final
Report.
More information about the development, including the expected
launch date and the proposed transitional provisions will be
announced by the Government in the later part of this year.
